Well resourced

We are a happy, friendly "family" that loves learning about the guitar. The club offers regular inexpensive lessons. We are well resourced and have a comfortable room and facilities. We are growing too. There are plans to include workshops and concerts from established artists, and we are able to provide a platform for up and coming talent. For the last five years we have been very successful at the annual Inverness Music Festival.
So why not take the first step with Hopscotch? What are you waiting for? Hop to it!

The Hopscotch Guitar Club has sessions at Tarradale , Culbokie and Resolis Primary schools.
What club sessions are available?
Tarradale Primary 3:30-4:15pm, and 4:15-5:00pm on Tuesdays Resolis Primary 3:15- 4:00pm on Wednesdays Culbokie Primary 3:00-3:50pm and 3:50 -4:35 pm on Fridays
Do I need to have a guitar?
The club has instruments for short term lending. It is quite an investment for parents to purchase guitars and music only to discover that their child is no longer interested. The lending service allows the pupil to try before you buy. When you're ready; I recommend purchasing your instrument locally at The Music Shop in Inverness. If looking further afield, follow the useful links button. For music purchases in Inverness remember :-)

The club is run by myself, Adrian (Aidy) Eaton, with the intention of teaching children and adults to play the guitar and learn general musicianship skills; while having fun at the same time. I'm not as serious as I appear in the middle photo! Nor as slim since I scaled the image.
I have been playing and teaching the guitar for 32 years this year.(2009) I specialize in teaching the very young and I encourage the playing ensemble music. However, I am able to offer tuition for Associate Board and Trinity College Grades for exams up to diploma level. I was recognised this year as a teacher/ assessor for the Associate Board and can also submit pupils for the Associate Board's Music Medal Awards scheme.
I am also professional musician registered the the Musician's Union and my Hopscotch business now acts as a music service provider to the Highland Council employed to teach Traditional Music Classes in Inverness, Kirkhill, Beauly and Kiltarlity.
This year I was given the post of music selector for the Classical Guitar categories of the Inverness Festival. Since I am now self-employed am available to offer my services as a performer at weddings. You can find me at MuseNexus.com
If you are keen to hear me play; I have a channel on youtube. Follow this link :-)
Hopscotch and the Curriculum for Excellence
As a Primary Teacher myself, employed by Highland Council, I am duty bound to mention the curriculum for excellence. Its' the law! So ...
Successful Learners
We have several sizeable groups of enthusiastic and motivated learners coming to the various club sessions. For the last four years we have maintained high standards at the Inverness Music Festival accumulating numerous merits and distinctions in solo and ensemble categories.
Confident Individuals
Apart from the obvious social (personal and interpersonal) skills clubs generally promote; instrumental tuition and performance enhances self-esteem. It takes maturity and self-respect, even in the youngest, to perform publicly and I admire them greatly.
Responsible Citizens
Since we are the only local group entering candidates for the Inverness Music Festival categories; I believe our work adds to the cultural life of Scotland by shoring up this major cultural event. The Festival is not so much a competition as a celebration and a valid context for individuals and groups to express themselves through the medium of music.
