Saturday 23rd February: Lewis Recordings
Lewis recordings producing CD of children performing. Reporter from P&J will cover this follow up event at around 10:30. If you wish the chance to have a photo taken, it would be best to show up then. It will, however, make for a long morning.Otherwise children should show up as for their normal class and that will allow enough time for takes and retakes. Can be boring waiting, so gameboys with headphones are great; as are colouring in books. A snack and drink might also be advisable in case of delays. Let me know if you are playing something other than your festival piece so I can make up a CD selection chart. That way you can tick the items you want to add to your customised copy.
Wednesday pupils and high school pupils should show up at 10:30 am for a photo opportunity and / or 12 noon for the recording session. Donnie has agreed to stay as long as it takes to do the best job.
Thursday 21st February
Inverness Music Festival.
La Scala Cinema 1. First Performances start at 12:00 am.
12:00 o'clock kick off for the first performers. Bedtime Story and Fisherman's Tale. Please be at least half an hour early for tuning. The remaining categories are from 1:30 pm onwards in the official programme. Traditionally the final programme goes ahead as printed. This is quite a long gap but it would allow more rehearsal time with the ensemble groups. It would be nice if all the club members were there for 12 noon to be an audience; but I don't want to be prescriptive. I think the adjudicators must be stopping for a lunch break.
I believe Primary School pupils should wear their uniforms since the entry was made for them by School Name. High School pupils may feel differently, but as a rule, all black or black and white is a standard. Again, I don't wish to insist, just to raise the issues that have been brought to my attention. I will be wearing a rather fetching black number myself!
The Festival allocates as a guide, approximately 3 hours to each class (guitar, violin); but performances can run on. I cannot be more precise than that. Add on to that the adjudicators comments and remarks plus time to sign the certificates.
Thanks in advance for your efforts bringing childen to this event. I visited the venue on Friday 15th to check layout and particulars of organisation. The room is lovely, but the stage is narrow. There was a run-through today (16/2) so kids know what to expect. They have been given guidance on announcing their pieces.
Don't forget to collect your cream egg before you leave.
Good luck to all.
